The Weavers of Fate
Norn (https://norn-five.vercel.app/) is a variant-interpretation copilot for clinical geneticists.
Core trick
Claude adjudicates each ACMG/AMP criterion with cited evidence, while deterministic code computes the classification from the points.
Description
Norn (https://norn-five.vercel.app/) is a variant-interpretation copilot for clinical geneticists. You paste in one genetic variant, an HGVS string, an rsID, or a locus, and it pulls evidence from public databases like Ensembl VEP, gnomAD v4, ClinVar, and AlphaFold, adjudicates each ACMG/AMP criterion with Claude, computes the classification in code, runs a second Claude review, and hands back a sourced report in about a minute. I built it because first-pass triage of a single variant eats 20 to 40 minutes of a curator's time, and the one-shot LLM classifiers meant to help just spit out a label you can't check. That's the one thing a curator can't use. So I made a rule I stuck to: the model justifies, the engine decides. Claude reasons through each criterion, but the final label is always computed in code, never taken from the model. Every criterion shows its evidence and where it came from. What I love about it is simple. It turns collecting into judging. It drafts, the human decides. Not for clinical use.
README excerpt
# Norn: Variant Interpretation Copilot Norn is a variant-interpretation copilot that drafts ACMG/AMP evidence for a human curator to confirm. Paste one genetic variant (HGVS, rsID, or locus) and Norn gathers evidence from public genomics databases, adjudicates each ACMG/AMP criterion with Claude, applies the ClinGen points framework in code, and returns a scored classification with per-criterion sources and a reviewer checklist. The name is Norn, after the Norse fates who read and decree destiny from evidence; a variant classifier does the same, reading the evidence and rendering a verdict. Vignesh Nagarajan was selected as 1 of 500 builders (about half of them PhDs, postdocs, or physicians) from more than 6,000 applicants across 47 countries for **Built with Claude: Life Sciences**, a global hackathon hosted by Anthropic and Cerebral Valley in partnership with Gladstone Institutes, and built Norn after being selected. Selectees received Claude Max 20x (valued at $200) as well as $200 in API credits to build with Claude Science and Claude Code. Presented Norn to Jason Bigman (Head of Community at Anthropic), Katie Pollard (Director of Gladstone Institutes), and Anneke Jong (Product Manager at Claude Science). - **Live Deployment:** [https://norn-five.vercel.app/](https://norn-five.vercel.app/) - **YouTube Demo:** [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dugw_8zb_HU ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dugw_8zb_HU) - **Hackathon:** [https://cerebralvalley.ai/e/built-with-claude-life-
