Problem
Problem: 1.
Core trick
Scores each ballot item against a user's values questionnaire, then answers per-item questions by retrieving that item's public record.
Description
Problem:
1. Voter participation is lower than it should be (especially in non-presidential elections)
2. It's a crazy amount of effort to be educated on all candidates and measures on a ballot
3. There's no modern, digital notification and engagement structure for getting people to vote.
Procivic gives voters the ability to be aware of elections they can partake in, allows them to quickly and efficiently see how their values align to measures and candidates on a ballot, see money ties to candidates and ballots to see who is driving them, and gives quick access to the public records that . Also, there's an AI agent that allows you to ask questions about each page (bill or candidate) in the ballot.
I mainly built out a demo-able version of the app, with many of the features being underbaked, but I think it gives someone the vision of what it could be if developed further significantly

# Procivic — *your ballot, decoded* **Enter your values → get a personalized, evidence-backed recommendation on *every* item of one real ballot — with the receipts one click away.** The ballot is the **June 2, 2026 San Francisco (CA-11) consolidated primary**: Pelosi's open U.S. House seat, two Supervisor races, the Governor's primary, and four local props (A–D). The home page is an **elections directory** (SF / California, past + upcoming); pick the decoded June-2026 ballot, take a ~60-second values quiz, and Procivic decodes the whole ballot — a recommendation + alignment + one-line why on each item — then lets you drill into any race, candidate, or measure for the voting record, the money, and a cited answer to anything you ask. > Built solo at **Claude Fable 5 Build Day** (2026-06-13) on **Opus 4.8**. Procivic is built on the **public record** instead: - **Stances derived from real roll-call VOTES** — Scott Wiener's CA State Senate record via OpenStates, not a questionnaire he filled out. - **An interactive FUNDING graph** — who actually pays for a candidate / each side of a measure, from OpenFEC and SF-Ethics. The U.S. House race page shows **real FEC fund
