Best Overall Hack
Kel: The AI agent that lives in your computer.
Kel sees your screen in real-time, and is always ready to help — just press Ctrl + K to start chatting!
Core trick
Electron captures the screen as context and streams model replies into a sidebar, with IPC types shared across main and renderer.
Built with
electronreacttypescriptvite
Description
Inspiration
I'm a big fan of Raycast for Mac, and much of the UI/interface design was inspired by their elegant approach.
What it does
It's an AI agent that lives in your sidebar and sees what you're looking at on screen. You can ask it questions seamlessly without manually providing context.
How we built it
Built using Electron, React, Vite, and TypeScript.
Challenges we ran into
Streaming AI messages and ensuring E2E type-safety across the main/renderer process boundary.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I can't believe I built this in just a week!
What we learned
Working with Electron's IPC communication, implementing real-time AI streaming, and maintaining type safety across process boundaries.
What's next for Kel
Adding more contextual awareness features, supporting multiple AI models, and improving screen capture performance.
