mori is a database proxy that lets you (or your ai agent!!!) do whatever you want to production without consequences.

Core trick

Classifies each SQL query, sends reads to production and writes to a local shadow database, merging results through taint maps and tombstones.

Description

mori is a database proxy that lets you (or your ai agent!!!) do whatever you want to production without consequences. reads hit prod — real data, real schemas, real volume. writes get captured locally in a shadow database. production is write-protected at all times. break something? mori reset. start over. prod never knows. under the hood, every query is parsed, classified, and routed through one of six execution strategies — from direct pass-through to hydrate-and-write — merging shadow and prod results so your app sees one unified database. taint maps, tombstones, schema divergence, sequence offsets — all handled transparently. supports 9 database engines (postgres, mysql, mssql, sqlite, redis, firestore, and more), 14+ auth providers (gcp iam, aws rds, neon, supabase...), and ships with a built-in MCP server so AI agents can investigate and fix prod issues with zero risk. the dream workflow that should already exist.

A transparent database proxy with copy-on-write semantics. Reads from production, captures writes locally, resets instantly.

## What is mori?

Mori sits between your application and a production database. It intercepts every query, classifies it, and routes it: writes go to a local Shadow database, while reads pull data from production and merge it with your local changes. Your application sees one unified database. Production is write-protected at all times.

Break something, reset, start over. Production never knows.

## Supported Engines

| Engine | Protocol | Shadow Backend |
| ------------- | ---------- | ------------------ |
| PostgreSQL | pgwire | Docker (postgres) |
| CockroachDB | pgwire | Docker (postgres) |
| MySQL | MySQL wire | Docker (mysql) |
| MariaDB | MySQL wire | Docker (mariadb) |
| MS SQL Server | TDS | Docker (mssql) |
| SQLite | pgwire | Local file copy |
| DuckDB | pgwire | Local file copy |
| Redis | RESP | Docker (redis) |
| Firestore | gRPC | Firestore emulator |

## Auth Providers

Direct, GCP Cloud SQL, AWS RDS, Neon, Supabase, Azure, PlanetScale, Vercel Postgres, MongoDB Atlas, DigitalOcean, Railway, Upstash, Cloudflare, Firebase.

Mori resolves credentials at connection time. IAM-based providers (GCP, AWS, Azure) handle token refresh automatically.
