README excerpt

# Codex Monitor

An AI-powered system monitoring dashboard that generates interactive UIs from natural language. Built with React 19, TanStack Start, and OpenAI's Codex CLI.

## Architecture

The project is a monorepo with three services:

| Service | Description | Default Port |
|---------|-------------|-------------|
| **Web UI** | React dashboard with AI-driven UI generation | 3000 |
| **Daemon** | TCP JSON-RPC server for workspace & session management | 4732 |
| **MCP Server** | System info server exposing CPU, memory, disk, network metrics | 3001 |

## Prerequisites

- **Node.js** >= 18
- **npm**
- **OpenAI API key** (for AI-powered UI generation)

## Setup

1. **Clone and install dependencies:**

```bash
git clone <repo-url>
cd openai-hackathon
npm install
```

npm workspaces will also install dependencies for `daemon/` and `mcp/system-info/`.

2. **Create a `.env` file** in the project root:

```
OPENAI_API_KEY=your-api-key-here
```

## Running

Start all three services in separate terminals:

```bash
# Terminal 1 — Web UI (React + Vite dev server)
npm run dev
# Terminal 2 — Codex Monitor Daemon (TCP server)
npm run daemon
# Terminal 3 — MCP System Info server
npm run mcp
```

For production:

```bash
npm run build
npm run start
```

## Usage

Open `http://localhost:3000` in your browser. The main interface provides:

- **System monitoring** — real-time CPU, memory, disk, and network stats
- **Process monitoring** — top processes by CPU/memory usage
- **AI UI generat
